A few weeks ago,
we showed you how to use iPhodroid to install Android OS on your iPhone 2G/3G. The developer released a few more versions of the app since , and today we can install Android OS 2.2 Froyo on the iPhone 3G.

Requirements:
NOTE: works ONLY with iPhone 3G
NOTE: before you begin the installation , go to Settings>General>Auto Lock and set it to “Never”
NOTE: many people, experience an error when trying to boot into Froyo. If you check the verbose boot screen, you will see the following line over and over ‘cannot set as speaker mixer LDSPK set’ . If that’s the case, wait for iPhodroid to be updated…
How to install Froyo:
1. Download iPhodroid and extract. Double click on the icon to load the app
2. You will be warned that this version of iPhodroid won’t backup your iPhone’s NOR. If you want your NOR backed up, you can run a prior version and back it up.

3. This version of iPhodroid is only available for iPhone 3G so , all you need is to select install and click next to continue

Posted Image

7. Now, iPhodroid will connect to your iPhone via SSH. Wait for a few seconds

Posted Image

8. Now , iPhodroid will open up a terminal shell, and will copy everything on your iPhone. This process has 8 steps, so all you need to do is wait
9. Once the app is done, it will ask you to put your iPhone in recovery mode. To do that, follow the image below.

10. Once in recovery mode, click on “Load Install”. Now iPhodroid will quit, and it will close the terminal shell as well. From now on , we will work only on the iPhone

11. When you click on ‘Load Install’ , your iPhone will reboot, and you will get a nice shiny iBoot screen. Tap on the power button once, to select the ‘Install’ icon, and tap the home button, to install Froyo

HOW TO: Manually Jailbreak iPhone 3Gs With New Bootrom Running iOS 4 With Sn0wBreeze [Windows]

A few days ago, iH8sn0w released a new video where he
demos the jailbreak of iOS 4.0 running on a iPhone 3Gs with the new bootrom and we told you that a new sn0wbreeze update is coming soon. Well, is seems that ‘soon’ is not soon enough, and today we will show you how to jailbreak your 3Gs manually. NOTE: read the tutorial twice before you attempt this, and make sure you understand everything. The tutorial was written by iH8sn0w and we modified it to make it as simple as possible , so everybody can understand it. But still, the stuff you are about to read is pretty advanced and not accessible to everybody so, if you still don’t understand it, well… wait for the update.

NOTE: this is a tethered jailbreak. That means that everytime the iPhone reboots, you need to connect it to a computer in order to turn it on. Requirements:

STEP 1 : Grabbing your 3.1.2 iBSS file

1. Pointing your hosts

  • If you have your SHSH blobs saved on Cydia/Saurik’s server then follow this tutorial

  • If you have your SHSH blobs saved locally, use TinyUmbrlla

2. Restoring to grab the iBSS file.

  • Place your device in DFU.

  • Start up the iBSS/iBEC grabber.

  • Put the save folder on a new folder on your desktop.
  • Hit “Start Monitoring”.

  • Now go back to iTunes and do SHIFT + Restore. Then browse for your 3.1.2 IPSW. You will need to restore
  • to 3.1.2 in order to pwn 4.0.

3. Saving your iBSS

  • After Restoring, Go to the folder that you have specified to save your iBSS file.

  • You will see folders like (Per**.tmp). Go into one of them, and you’ll see a folder called “Firmware”. Go there. Then go to the folder “dfu”.

  • Copy the iBSS file to a safe place, then you can remove the folder created by the iBSS Grabber.

STEP 2 : Creating a custom 4.0 firmware

Using Sn0wbreeze 1.6.2 create a custom firmware. If you don’t know how, check this tutorial

NOTE: Ignore the warnings after browsing for the ipsw

STEP 3 : Installing LibUSB for iRecovery

NOTE: If libUSB is not installed properly, your USB might no longer work!

NOTE: If you are not sure what’s running under the ‘hood’ , you can run this mini tool to detect your O/S + Architecture — Windows + Arch. Detector

Download libUSB:

How to install libUSB for Vista/7 64-Bit:

Once LibUSB is installed iRecovery should be able to function now.

STEP 4 : Pwning iBSS + iBoot

Download this easy tool here. The tool will help you create the payloads.

NOTE: save the payloads in the same place you got iBooty ( i.e. desktop )

STEP 5 : iBooty Prep

NOTE: It will work as long as you place all of the correct files there

1. Download iBooty GUI, and extract it

2. Extract your Custom IPSW created by sn0wbreeze with 7-Zip or another un-archiver.

3. Grab the kernelcache and bring it into the same folder as iBooty. Also grab the iBEC from the folder Firmware\dfu\iBEC.n88ap.RELEASE.dfu

4. Rename your iBSS 3.1.2 signed to “ibss312.dfu”

  • Rename your Kernel 4.0-Custom to “kernel.40″

  • Rename your iBEC 4.0-Custom to “ibec40.dfu”
Your folder should look like this:

  • iboot.payload <– Created with Payload Pwner.
  • exploitibss312 <– Created with Payload Pwner.
  • ibec40.dfu <– Grabbed from Custom IPSW made by sn0wbreeze.
  • irecovery.exe <– Comes with iBooty.
  • readline5.dll <– Comes with iBooty.
  • iBooty.exe <– Comes with iBooty.
  • ibss312.dfu <– THIS NEEDS TO BE YOUR iBSS from the restore!
  • kernel.40 <– Grab from Custom IPSW made by sn0wbreeze.
  • sn0w.img3 <– Comes with iBooty.

STEP 6 : Restoring to 4.0 + Booting

NOTE: MAKE SURE you are running 3.1.2

1. Run iBooty and Select “Prepare Device for Custom Firmware”. Run the Process and if you see a snow flake, you can proceed!

2. Now open iTunes and restore to the custom ipsw

NOTE: when you’re done, your device will have a black screen and will not boot ( DFU loop ) . This is normal.

STEP 7 : Booting

Just Re-Run iBooty and select “Boot It”. If all goes well it will boot!

The new Game Center which was available for testing purposes on pre-release GM version of iOS 4 was removed from the final public build which was released on June 21st. Jailbreak iPhone 3GS on iOS 4, which is already Jailbroken Using Spirit with Spirit2Pwn

When iOS 4 jailbreak first came out, it was only compatible with iPhone 3GS (old bootrom), iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non-MC models). Things were even more trickier for iPhone 3GS. These 3GS devices were not only required to have old bootrom, but they were also required to have previously been pwned or jailbroken on anything (like blackra1n) other than Spirit.

If your iPhone 3GS was not previously jailbroken with anything other than Spirit, iTunes used to throw an error whenever you tried to restore your phone with custom firmware. Sn0wbreeze 1.6.2 later brought support for these Spirit’ed devices. But in case if you are still getting problems restoring to custom cooked iOS 4 firmware (from PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze), you can use Spirit2Pwn patch to perfectly restore your iPhone 3GS on iOS 4 custom firmware.

NOTE: This applies to iPhone 3GS with old bootrom, previously jailbroken on iPhone 3.1.3 using Spirit.

Step 1: Start Cydia on your iPhone 3GS (old bootrom, jailbroken on 3.1.3 using Spirit) and touch on “Manage” tab on the bottom. Now touch on “Sources” as seen in the screenshot below.
Posted Image

Step 2: Touch on “Edit” and then on “Add”. You will be prompted to enter a url source as seen in the screenshot below. Type “http://repo.woowiz.net” and touch on “Add Source”.
Posted Image

Cydia will now automatically update your sources by following a series of automated steps.

Step 3: Once the repository has been added successfully, Search for “Spirit2Pwn” in Cydia and install this application.
Posted Image

Step 4: Now from here onwards, simply follow our previous guides on how to jailbreak iOS 4 on iPhone 3GS using PwnageTool 4.0 / 4.0.1 for Mac posted
here, and Sn0wbreeze 1.6 for 4.0 on Windows guide posted here.

Once you have jailbroken your phone, you can unlock it using ultrasn0w 0.93 (on any baseband).
